3 Tips to Spring Clean Your Garage – Here’s How to Clean Your Garage Like a Professional

While garages are for vehicles, they often end up as extra storage spaces for other stuff. Old clothes, broken furniture, and other stuff that we don’t want to throw out, often end up getting dumped in the garage. It’s easy to see why the garage often ends up becoming one of the most cluttered and unorganized spaces in one’s house.

It’s always a good idea to de-clutter your garage. You’ll be surprised at the amount of useless stuff just lying around. A cleaner and tidier garage will surely be more pleasing to look at.

Without the clutter lying around, you’ll be able to easily park your car inside the garage. A more organized, junk-free garage also means that you don’t have to worry about stuff scratching your car’s paint while you’re moving your vehicle inside.

These Are the Steps You Need to Take

The time it will take you to clean your garage will depend on how long it’s been since you last cleaned it. You’ll clean it a lot more efficiently if you have a plan. Dedicate at least an hour or two to identify and separate the essentials from the junk items before springing into action. You’ll be able to move much quicker once you have a solid action plan in mind rather than just cleaning stuff blindly.

To help you with your garage spring cleaning mission, we’ve listed three tips below.

  1. Sort, clear, and throw out the junk.

You need to identify which stuff in your garage has value and which stuff is just junk that you’ve just been too lazy to throw out. Pick out the valuable stuff and separate them from the rest. Make sure these are things that you can use.

Once you’re done pulling these out, feel free to throw out all the junk that you’ve dumped in your garage over the last few months (or probably even years). Give away unnecessary items if you can find someone who can make use of them. If you have an old and run-down vehicle lying around, it’s probably best to dispose of it to free up space.

  1. Wipe, sweep, hose the dirt away.

With everything cleared and out of the way, it’s time to tackle the dust and dirt that has built up inside your garage. Wipe surfaces, windows, and shelves. Sweep off the dust and dirt, and hose down any grime that stubbornly sticks.

  1. Organize everything back.

Now that you’ve tidied up the place, you can focus on getting things back inside in a more organized manner. All non-essentials should be gone by now. You’ll see the difference when you put things back in.

Use Your Clunker to Help Our Struggling Veterans
