Time to Give Back to Our Heroes

While you may be fortunate enough to celebrate Thanksgiving with your loved ones, some people can only wish they were in your shoes. Among them are our former military members who are living in misery, making it hard for them to celebrate the holiday with their families.

They include your local veterans who are suffering from service-connected disabilities and mental health issues, those who can’t find decent and stable jobs, and those who have become homeless due to extreme poverty.

It’s a pity and highly ironic that they could not celebrate Thanksgiving, considering how these courageous men and women risked their lives to defend our freedoms and ensure our nation’s security.

It’s time for us to give back and show our gratitude to our heroes, and Thanksgiving should be the opportune moment for doing this.

Below are several ways of helping local veterans during this holiday. Without a doubt, performing any of these actions can bring them immense joy.

  1. Volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Many of our vets are unable to celebrate Thanksgiving with a huge feast and good company. This is where soup kitchens could come in handy.

Help bring the party to your community’s needy vets by volunteering at a nearby soup kitchen. Serve them with delicious platters that are sure to leave their tummies full and satisfied. As for good company, you can be one by simply sitting down with them and exchanging feel-good stories.

  1. Invite a vet for dinner.

If you know a veteran who lives alone, don’t let them spend Thanksgiving in isolation. Invite them over to your place for a scrumptious meal. Impress them with your cooking skills as they impressed you with their heroic acts.

  1. Donate to a food bank.

Homeless and impoverished vets are among the beneficiaries of local food banks. If you have non-perishable leftovers in your kitchen, such as canned goods and juice boxes, you can donate them to a local food bank. Find one in your area here.

  1. Host a rummage sale.

If you have old but clean and still fashionable clothes, or perhaps even unworn ones, you might as well sell them. Feel free to include in the sale the rest of your unneeded personal possessions that are still in good shape. You can then distribute the proceeds to nonprofits that cater to local veterans and their families.

  1. Offer to do their chores.

Devote a few hours to help a veteran in your neighborhood with their household chores. Tell them that you’ll gladly lend them your hand with tasks like picking up their groceries, washing their dishes, mowing their lawn, taking their pets out for a walk, or just about anything that can help ease their burden.

Thank Needy Vets in Your Community with a Vehicle Donation

Last but not the least, you can express your gratitude to our nation’s heroes by donating an old vehicle for their benefit to Veteran Car Donations. We’ll auction off your gift and use the proceeds to fund the life-enriching programs of our IRS-approved 501(c)3 nonprofit partners.

Thanks to your generous contribution, the disadvantaged veterans and their families in your local area will now have opportunities to enjoy free quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, psychotherapy services, and many other benefits.

As our donor, you’ll be entitled to the highest possible amount of tax deduction based on the sales price or value of your donated vehicle. You can claim this when you file your itemized federal income tax return in the next tax season.

You’ll also benefit from our free pickup and towing service, which is available in all parts of the United States. This means that you can avail yourself of this free service wherever you’re residing in the country.

Best of all, you’ll get to experience the priceless satisfaction of doing a charitable act that can uplift the lives of our nation’s struggling heroes.

You can donate not just your old car but almost any other type of vehicle that you no longer need. We don’t mind accepting damaged vehicles. You may give this page a look to see what types of vehicles normally qualify for our donation program.
