Pay Tribute to Our Winged Heroes on September 18th
On September 18th, 1947, Stuart Symington was sworn in as the first secretary of the United States Air Force (USAF), thus marking the birth of a new branch of the United States Armed Forces. Earlier that year, President Harry Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947, paving the way for the creation of the USAF.
Since its founding, our Air Force has defended our nation’s airspace and secured our skies. It has also participated in numerous military missions in support of other military branches.
Although pilots are often shown as the face of the Air Force, they don’t comprise a major part of the military branch. Most of our airmen and airwomen are actually on the ground in supporting roles, ranging from administrative duties to technical capacities.
This September 18th, let’s celebrate our winged heroes whether they’re on the ground or in the skies. The 74th birthday of our Air Force should serve to remind us of the greatness of our Air Force and the invaluable service its men and women have been doing for our nation.
Veteran Car Donations has listed five ways on how you can best celebrate our Air Force’s 74th birthday:
- Visit an Air Force museum.
We have many air force museums spread throughout the country. The world’s biggest is the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. Visit the museum nearest your place on September 18th together with your friends and family.
- Take a trip to an Air Force base.
Some of our Air Force bases are open to the public. Celebrate the U.S. Air Force birthday by visiting one to see what our airmen and airwomen are doing.
- Visit an air show.
Check to see if there’s an air show that’s happening near your area. These are exercises designed to promote military careers, boost public relations, and raise the profile of our Air Force.
- Attend an aviation event.
Aside from air shows, there are other activities that our Air Force holds for the public. These include luncheons, tours, seminars, and even auctions of old Air Force items.
- Donate to help struggling veterans.
A most meaningful way of celebrating the 74th birthday of our Air Force is by reaching to veterans of our Air Force and other military branches who badly need assistance. You can do this by donating cash or any valuable items to a charity that provides for their well-being.
Celebrate U.S. Air Force Birthday with a Vehicle Donation
If you have a car or any other type of vehicle that you’re no longer using and is just taking up space in your garage or driveway, you can donate that to us here at Veteran Car Donations for the benefit of the underserved veterans in your community.
We’ll have your vehicle auctioned off, converting it into a fund-generating tool for our veteran and military nonprofit partners.
The proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle will help support the vital programs and services being delivered by these IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Thanks to your donation, they will be able to provide more deserving veterans and their families with free quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, psychotherapy services, and many other benefits.
As our donor, you’ll get to enjoy a top tax deduction. You’ll also receive free pickup and towing service from us wherever you’re residing in the country.
The best reward you’ll get, however, is the priceless feeling of joy and satisfaction for helping uplift the lives of our nation’s heroes.
We take almost all types of vehicles, including those that barely run anymore. Head over to this page to get a complete idea of what we usually accept as donations.
