Owning a motorcycle has its advantages like low ownership cost, easy parking, and the freedom of riding it through the busy roads with ease.
However, it also has its disadvantages like less longevity, less seating and room, hard to use in inclement weather, and the most concerning one is the safety issues it holds as it gives the motorist a higher risk of getting badly injured compared to driving a car.
If you think it’s time to move on with your motorcycle, don’t let it just sit and rust in your garage or backyard. Donate it to our Maryland motorcycle donations program instead where you will have the opportunity to help needy veterans in your state.
Bittersweet Homecoming for Troops
Returning home from overseas deployment is supposed to be a joy-filled occasion for our troops. But to a good number of them, particularly those who are ending their military career, homecoming is bittersweet. Yes, they will be reunited with their families again after a long while. Yes, they will no longer have danger as their constant companion.
However, there is a flip side to this: With no more military paycheck to look forward to and with no civilian job that they can fit in, where will they get the money to support themselves and their family?
The problem is worse for those who came back home on crutches or wheelchairs or those with missing limbs and serious wounds suffered on the battlefield. There are also those who returned home with mental issues such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, depression, and other related ailments.
From Warriors to Beggars
Although some of these veterans are receiving benefits from the government, the assistance is not enough. Some have not even received any support yet.
With the lack of support, these veterans quickly get mired in poverty. Penniless, they are forced to beg for food and money on our streets and sidewalks as they become part of America’s homeless population.
These veterans don’t deserve such a miserable life. They have done so much for our country, having fought and risked their lives to defend our rights and protect our national security, and this is all the thanks they get? Let’s give them what they deserve.
Your Motorcycle Donations Can Give Our Vets These Benefits
Making Maryland motorcycle donations is perhaps the least you can do to give back to our veterans. We use the proceeds from the sale of donated motorcycles to provide vital assistance to our veterans and their families. The funds will go directly to our nonprofit partners, enabling them to continue offering the following benefits to our veterans:
- Mortgage-free housing for those who are homeless;
- Specially adapted homes for the severely disabled;
- Educational scholarships for those who lack education;
- Employment seminars and job training programs for the unemployed;
- Free medical care for the physically and mentally ill;
- Psychological support for the families of the fallen;
- Public awareness campaigns on the needs of the veterans.
How to Donate A Motorcycle
Making Maryland motorcycle donations is easy and fast! We are here to help you every step of the way! Let us give you a more detailed look at how it’s done:
First, contact us by either filling out our online donation form or calling us at 877-594-5822. We will need just your name, your contact information, and a few details about the motorcycle you’re donating such as its make and model, year, mileage, and whether it is in running condition or not.
We will then set up a pickup schedule that’s convenient for you. After 24-48 hours, a tow truck from a local towing company will be on its way to pick up and tow your motorcycle away. You will receive from us a donation receipt, acknowledging that we have picked up your motorcycle donation. This releases you from any liability on the motorcycle you’ve donated from that point forward. You can now de-register it, dispose of its license plates properly, and cancel its insurance coverage. That receipt also allows you to take the minimum tax deduction without further paperwork.
Once the towing is done, your motorcycle will be put in auction where it will be sold to the highest bidder.
A few days after the sale of your motorcycle, we will send you by mail your tax-deductible sales receipt. You will need this receipt to claim your tax deduction when you file your federal income tax return in the next tax-filing period.
