How AFAS Impacts Lives in the Air Force Community
Did you know that there’s a charity that caters to past and present members of the U.S. Air Force? The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) is a nonprofit organization that has been helping Airmen and their families meet their financial needs ever since it was launched in 1942. AFAS is supported by private donations, corporate sponsorships, and a portion of the contributions made to the Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAF).
The organization provides Air Force members, retirees, and their families financial assistance through grants and no-interest loans. It also offers free counseling programs, scholarships, gift cards for essentials like groceries and gas, and emergency funds for unexpected expenses like medical bills.
AFAS has provided over $1 billion in aid to Airmen and their families since its inception, making it one of the oldest charitable organizations working with the Department of Defense. Through generous donations and committed volunteers, it continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those who serve our country. With its mission of delivering “help, hope, and relief” to past and present Air Force members and their families, AFAS is an invaluable resource and a powerful force for good.
The Educational Benefits that AFAS Provides
In addition to providing financial support to eligible individuals, the AFAS offers many educational benefits. These include the General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program, which awards up to $2,000 per academic year for eligible children and spouses of active duty, retired, or deceased Air Force members. The Society also has its Tuition Assistance Program for its beneficiaries that covers up to 100% of their tuition costs for approved college courses.
AFAS likewise offers various scholarship programs, such as the General Daniel “Chappie” James Jr. Scholarship Program and the Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Program, both of which provide funding for eligible children of fallen Air Force members or veterans.
Free online education resources such as study guides and sample test questions are also available to help Air Force members and their families succeed in their educational endeavors.
Furthermore, the organization provides free access to career counseling services to assist beneficiaries in developing a career path.
All of these services are accessible to all active-duty and retired Air Force members, regardless of rank or status, and their dependents.
You Can Make a Difference in the Lives of Our Disadvantaged Vets
Even as a private citizen, you can easily do your part in helping our former service members who are living miserable lives. All you have to do is donate any vehicle you no longer need to us at Veteran Car Donations.
We’ll use your donation to improve the living conditions of the veterans in your community who are impoverished, homeless, and jobless, as well as those suffering from service-connected disabilities and serious illnesses, including mental disorders.
Our team will auction off your vehicle, with the proceeds used to support the life improvement programs for veterans of our nonprofit partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations use the funding we give them to provide their beneficiaries with housing and financial assistance, employment and livelihood opportunities, family support, free quality health care and medical treatment, psychotherapy services, and many other services meant to uplift their lives.
To show you our gratitude for your charitable contribution, we’ll send you by mail the 100% tax-deductible sales receipt of your car within days after its sale. This will entitle you to claim the maximum tax deduction.
We’ll also be hauling your vehicle away without charging you a single dollar. We offer this free towing service to our donors in all parts of the country, which means we can collect your vehicle wherever you had it parked or stored anywhere in the United States.
Best of all, you’ll experience the great joy and satisfaction of knowing that you’re doing something that can transform the lives of the suffering veterans in your area.
We accept almost all types of vehicles, including those that are damaged and no longer running.
