Easy Steps to Know If Your Auto Is Fuel-Efficient

For new car owners, learning how to calculate their vehicles’ MPG(miles per gallon) or gas mileage is important. While some vehicle owners take their MPG for granted, measuring it periodically is a good practice since it lets you know how many kilometers your car can travel using a specific amount of gas. This will give you an idea of your car’s overall condition, particularly its fuel efficiency.

What’s MPG and Why Should You Check It?

MPG is the distance (measured in miles) that a car can travel per gallon of gas. It is the primary measurement of a car’s fuel efficiency: The higher the MPG of your car, the more fuel-efficient it is and the better its overall condition is.

If you’re purchasing a new car, knowing the vehicle’s MPG is important because it gives you a sense of how much money you’re likely to spend on gas.

Different car brands claim different MPGs. You can only verify the MPG rating of your car by calculating your gas mileage yourself. This will help you check whether you’re really getting good value for your buck for every gallon of gas you consume.

How Can You Calculate Your Gas Mileage?

You can calculate your gas mileage by following these simple steps:

  • Fill up your tank.
  • Reset the odometer or note down the number on the master odometer mileage.
  • Drive normally until the tank depletes halfway.
  • Fill your tank again.
  • Record the amount of gas it took to fill your tank again.
  • Record the new odometer mileage. You can also reset the odometer and repeat the process several times to get a good average.

To calculate your mileage, determine the miles traveled from the odometer, or deduct the original odometer reading from the new one. Divide the miles traveled by the number of gallons it took to refill the tank. This will be your car’s average MPG.

Use this formula for gallons: miles traveled / gallons used = MPG

For kilometers: kilometers are driven / liters used = KPL (kilometers per liter)

To calculate your rate of gas, use the average price of gas and divide it by the number of your car’s MPG or KPL. This will give you an idea about the approximate cost of fuel when you are traveling long or short distances.

Here’s the Best Way to Dispose of Your Unwanted Vehicle

When you buy a new or used car, you want to get your money’s worth and maximize the value of the vehicle. However, you might also be thinking of the best way to get rid of the old and unreliable clunker that you just replaced.

We at Veteran Car Donations are here to help you dispose of your unwanted vehicle in the best way possible. All you have to do is contact us and offer to donate that beater to us. We’ll use it to support the struggling disadvantaged veterans in your local area.

We collect old vehicles, sell them, and distribute the proceeds to our charity partners that are dedicated to providing support services to former members of our military. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations assist veterans who are suffering from homelessness, service-connected disabilities, chronic unemployment, and illnesses, including mental health issues.

These nonprofits use the funding that we give them to provide their veteran beneficiaries with free quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, psychotherapy services, and many other benefits.

As our donor, expect to receive valuable rewards. We’ll send you by mail the 100% tax-deductible sales receipt of your vehicle within 30 days after it gets sold. This receipt will entitle you to receive the maximum tax deduction in the next tax season.

We’ll also haul off your car for free at a date and place of your choice. There’s no place in the U.S. where we can’t reach you since we operate throughout the country.

On top of the material rewards you’ll get, your vehicle donation will give you that exquisite feeling of satisfaction, knowing that you’ll be helping uplift the lives of our nation’s suffering heroes.

We accept nearly all types of vehicles. We even take those that have dents, scratches, or defective parts. If you’re uncertain about your car’s qualification for our program, let us know your concerns here and we’ll tell you what we think.
