Don’t Just Say ‘Thank You’ — Do Something Impactful for a Change!

Each year on the 11th of November, people across the country take a pause to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the fallen ones. It reminds each of us to thank our heroes for everything they did to preserve our freedoms and ensure our security. It’s Veterans Day!

Our former service members willingly placed their lives on the line to ensure that we get to enjoy ours. Imagine where would we be right now if it weren’t for them. Perhaps we’d still be fighting for our independence.

So, to acknowledge their acts of heroism and keep the deceased in our memories, our nation’s leaders established Veterans Day. Unlike Memorial Day, this federal holiday pays homage to both living and deceased veterans.

Many Americans celebrate the holiday by participating in parades and festivals to honor the retired military members in their locality, while others would visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Two minutes of silence would be observed at 11 in the morning, which happens to be the exact time when the armistice to end World War I was signed.

Honor Our Heroes By Doing Any of These Things

Are you thinking of ways to show your appreciation and gratitude for our veterans besides just saying “thank you for your service” and moving on? We know how you feel. We also know how our former military members feel — they’ve been getting the same lip service for years but receiving nothing that will truly touch their lives.

This time around, we need to bring something new to the table for a change. To give your local vets more reason to feel special on Veterans Day, Veteran Car Donations shares the following meaningful activities you can do to mark the occasion:

  1. Offer to do their chores and errands.

Do you know a former soldier in your area? Go ahead and make their day by performing their chores for them as they spend the day relaxing, pampering themselves, or catching up with their loved ones. They’ll be extremely grateful you’re there!

  1. Visit a nursing home facility.

For senior vets living in nursing home facilities, getting a visit from someone whom they don’t even know personally can mean the world. This is particularly true for those whose loved ones have all passed away. Visit and cheer them up at your local nursing home facility. Ask them about their favorite memories while serving in the military, crack jokes to entertain them, or introduce a hobby that’s unfamiliar to them.

  1. Host a fundraiser.

What could be more rewarding than joining a fundraiser for a veteran-focused organization? Answer: Starting one! Pick a nonprofit you want to support and brainstorm ideas on how you can raise funds for its programs. You don’t have to do it alone — have your friends and family pitch in!

  1. Hire a veteran.

If you own a business or manage a company, consider hiring an unemployed veteran for a certain position that matches their skills. Sure, they may not have any experience in the civilian workforce, but the skills they’ve acquired in the military, as well as their never-give-up attitude, can be assets to your business. You might be surprised at what they’re capable of.

Here’s Our 5th and Best Suggestion

We’re not done with our tips on how best to observe Veterans Day this year. We’ve saved the best for last: Help improve the living conditions of the disadvantaged and neglected veterans in your community by simply donating an unwanted vehicle to us at Veteran Car Donations. We’ll use your donation to help these unsung heroes live the decent and dignified lives they fully deserve.

We’ll put your vehicle up for auction, with the proceeds going to our veteran-focused nonprofit partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are devoted to helping former U.S. service members who are suffering from poverty, homelessness, chronic unemployment, service-connected disabilities, and serious illnesses, including mental health issues.

Our nonprofit partners use the funding they receive from us to provide their beneficiaries with housing and financial assistance, employment and livelihood opportunities, family support, free quality health care and medical treatment, psychotherapy services, scholarships, and other services all meant to uplift their lives.

You will also benefit from your charitable contribution since you’ll get to enjoy our free pickup and towing service anywhere in the United States. You’ll also love our quick, simple, and convenient donation process where you don’t have to do any paperwork. On top of that, your donation will entitle you to claim the maximum tax deduction in the next tax season.

However, these material rewards are nothing compared to the joy of knowing that you’re helping uplift the lives of our nation’s heroes.

We accept almost all vehicle types, including those that are no longer working properly.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call us anytime through our toll-free hotline at 877-594-5822 or you may write to us here. Check out our FAQs page for more information on our donation program.
