7 Ways to Celebrate November 11—Veterans Day

On November 11, Veterans Day, let’s honor the brave men and women of our nation’s armed forces who have served our country well.

This annual official U.S. public holiday is the perfect opportunity to show our veterans that we highly appreciate the services they’ve rendered.

How You Can Celebrate November 11—Veterans Day

Do you have family members, friends, colleagues or neighbors who have served the country in any of the military branches of the United States? If you do, there’s no better time to show them how grateful you are for what they’ve done for our country than on November 11—Veterans Day. Here are seven ways you can show your appreciation:

  1. Go out of your way to thank our veterans.

You have no idea how much of an impact a simple handshake or a subtle head nod has on our veterans. It’s all the more meaningful to them if you go the extra mile and reach out to them. Tell them that you recognize the fact that if it weren’t for the sacrifices they’ve made for our country to defend our freedoms and protect our nation’s security, you and your family wouldn’t probably be enjoying the good life in our country. You can also follow the tradition of sending a thank-you card to every veteran you know.

  1. Hang the American flag.

When people see the Stars and Stripes swaying in the breeze when they pass by your house, they’ll be reminded of how our veterans fought to serve our country.

  1. Share a meal with the veterans.

You can celebrate their gallantry in service to the nation by inviting them over for a home-cooked meal in their honor. You can also invite your civilian friends as well. This will be a great opportunity for the vets to share stories about their military experience.

  1. Visit veterans at the local nursing home facility.

If you want to cheer up elderly veterans, take the time to drop by a nursing home facility and spend time with them for an hour or two. You can ask them questions about their time in the service. Show them your respect and appreciation.

  1. Wear a red poppy.

In case you didn’t know yet, the red poppy is the symbol of death, life, and remembrance. It’s been that way since World War I. Pick out a red poppy and proudly wear it to work.

  1. Share their stories on social media.

If you know of veterans who are willing to share their experiences while serving in the military and after their retirement or discharge from the service, you can post a blog about them or use your favorite social media platform to let other people know about the services they’ve done for our country and the struggles that they now face. This is a great way to raise people’s awareness of the accomplishments and the sacrifices they made to ensure our country’s liberties and the current challenges they face.

  1. Donate an unwanted vehicle for our veterans’ benefit.

Another meaningful way of showing your support for our dear veterans is by donating a vehicle that you no longer need or want to us at Veteran Car Donations.

How Your Car Donation Will Benefit Our Veterans

The money generated from the sale of your charitable contribution will be used to provide free medical services to those veterans in your community who are suffering from physical and mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mortgage-free housing for the homeless, mortgage-free and specially adapted housing for those with service-connected disabilities,  educational scholarships for those who want to pursue a degree, and job opportunities and career development programs for those who seek to break free from the clutches of poverty.

While your vehicle donation will directly impact the lives of our veterans, you too will benefit since your charitable contribution will entitle you to a top tax deduction after your vehicle is sold at auction.
