On October 10th, Help Spread Awareness of Mental Health Issues

The key to living a healthy life doesn’t lie with physical fitness alone. Our mental health is just as important as our physical state. It’s vital to our lives and has an impact on how we behave and how we feel every day. If you’re mentally healthy, you’ll find yourself more productive and generally happy. You’ll find it easier to adapt to changes in your life or when unexpected stressful situations come along. You’re stronger in the face of adversity and you can navigate through the complex issues of daily life without experiencing a breakdown.

Although more people today are becoming more aware of mental illness than in previous generations, the stigma and discrimination suffered by those suffering from mental illness are still there. That’s one of the reasons that prompted the creation of World Mental Health Day, which is observed on October 10th of each year. It’s a day when people are encouraged to help spread awareness, give importance, and share updates on mental health issues. Health authorities also use the event to give public advice on maintaining mental health.

Learning more about mental health helps us understand those who are suffering from mental problems, which in turn enables us to give them better support. It also helps us in educating people in our society who continue to attach a stigma to individuals struggling with mental problems. Because of this, many of those afflicted with mental issues shun treatment because of their fear of being judged.

On World Mental Health Day, let’s do our part in telling everyone that it’s perfectly okay not to be okay!

3 Tips on Keeping Yourself Mentally Healthy

There are practical, simple, and effective ways to keep yourself mentally healthy. Get on the road to achieving a balanced and healthy life with these tips on maintaining and improving your mental health:

  1. Get moving and keep yourself active.

Exercise is good not just for your physical body; it also helps your mental fitness. You’ll feel more confident, sleep better, and have sharper focus when you exercise. Numerous studies link regular exercise to improved moods and a happier mental state.

  1. Surround yourself with positive people.

Your environment plays a huge role in your mental state. If you’re surrounded by happy and mentally healthy people, this will have an influential and positive effect on you. Positive vibes from others will help make you feel happy.

  1. Meditate.

Relaxation exercises or meditation can calm your mind. Every day, spend at least 15 to 20 minutes in quiet solitude. Empty your mind of all worldly cares and thoughts. While you spend more than 15 hours engaging with people or doing something, you only need 15 minutes of meditation to relax your mind.

Your Old Car Can Do So Much Good for Our Struggling Vets

World Mental Health Day is an opportune time to reach out to our veterans, many of whom are suffering from mental health challenges. Their condition is easily understandable, knowing that they have been subjected to the horrors of war and the loneliness of being away from their loved ones for a long time. Studies show that at least 20 to 30% of our troops reported having mental health problems within 24 months following their return home from deployment to conflict areas overseas.

Aside from mental health issues, many of our veterans are suffering from service-connected disabilities, inability to find jobs to be able to support themselves and their families, and homelessness as a result of extreme poverty.

Have a heart and help out our nation’s heroes. It’s easy to extend a helping hand to them. All you got to do is to contact us at Veteran Car Donations and donate to us any clunker you’ve got that’s just gathering dust in your garage. We’ll put your vehicle up for auction, with the proceeds going to our veteran-focused nonprofit partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofits will use the funding to provide their veteran beneficiaries with free psychotherapy services, quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, and many other benefits.

Becoming one of our donors is quick and simple. Pick up a phone, call our toll-free line at 877-594-5822, and one of our donation specialists will assist you in making your donation. You may also opt to simply fill out our online donation form here. You won’t need to leave your home or do any paperwork at all.

Making a vehicle donation to us is also very rewarding. Your charitable contribution will entitle you to receive a maximized tax deduction in the next tax season. You’ll also get our free professional towing service. Perhaps more valuable than any other rewards you’ll get, your gift will also allow you to feel immense satisfaction, knowing that you’ll be helping transform the lives of the heroes living in your community.

Veteran Car Donations accepts almost all vehicle types regardless of their condition. Aside from your old car, you can donate a pickup truck, a motorbike, and even your granddad’s motorized wheelchair.

We are proud to say that we operate in all 50 states. Give us a call no matter where you’re located in the country, and we’ll be there to pick up and tow your vehicle.
