Once you’ve made the decision to place your vehicle in our car donations program in the city, we will take care of everything else to complete the process. You may choose to give us a quick call or fill out our online donation form. We’ll be asking a few details about your car, after which we will agree on a place and time for its towing.
Our hired tow truck usually arrives a day or two later. At the time of pickup, you’re not obligated to be at the scene if you have more important things to do. Just make sure you leave your car keys and title inside the car. Also, please make sure that car is free from any personal belongings. Before we take your vehicle, we will issue you a donation’s receipt. This will enable you to legally cancel your car’s registration and insurance policy.
With your donated automobile in our possession, we’ll be putting it up for auction. Funds that are generated from it will be used to support local nonprofit charities that focus entirely on supporting our veterans and their families.
Later, we will send you by mail your 100 percent tax-deductible sales receipt, indicating your donated vehicle’s sale price during the auction. This will serve as the basis of your tax deduction claim when you file your itemized income tax return.
